About Sophie

Sophie specializes in helping students turn strong profiles into authentic and compelling applications.

Originally from Belgium, Sophie was the first in her immediate family to pursue studies beyond an undergraduate degree. This meant going through the university application process without a clear reference point, making it more complex and unfamiliar from the start.

Outside of her work, Sophie loves watching K-Dramas, though she is shy about it. She also practices ceramics and enjoys cooking during her free time and will happily share pictures of her work if you ask her.

Before becoming a counselor, Sophie worked as an international student advisor, supporting students with program selection, academic progression, and integration. In this role, she worked with students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

Students Sophie Works Especially Well With

Sophie is particularly effective with students who feel unsure of how to express themselves.

She has a strong ability to identify what a student is trying to say, even when they cannot yet communicate it clearly, and help them build from there.

Approach to Counseling

Her work focuses on optimizing how students communicate their traits and achievements through their applications in order to position themselves competitively.

Students often describe Sophie as calm and attentive. She helps them reflect on their experiences and articulate their ideas in a way that feels both natural and convincing.

She pays close attention to the emotional side of the process, ensuring that students and families feel supported and understood at every stage.

Education and Professional Background

Sophie studied Communication Sciences at Ghent University, followed by a Master’s in European Studies at the University of Amsterdam.
